Recently, i had a discussion with someone about tire width. I claimed, that with bigger (wider) tires, a car would have more traction/grip. The person i was discussing this with, agreed with me, up to a certain point. He said, that if the tires were too wide for the car, the opposite would happen, less traction/grip. He also claimed that the chance of aquaplaning would be higher. My thoughts on that were that that mostly depends on the kind of profile of the tire. Seems like a good time to make a thread on this seeing as I've owned it over 3 weeks and have already managed to put something like 1300 miles on it- despite my justification for buying a 4.0 V8 being that my personal mileage was likely to decrease... After 4 very happy and enjoyable years with an E82 125i Coupe I was starting to properly get the bug to move on to something else. I'd had a great time with that car but had got everything I wanted out of owning it (including a very fun trip over to the Nurburgring), and was struggling to see the value for money in putting any more money into it

I've been pretty lucky with my car purchases over the years as most of my 20+ cars have been reliable and not required much outside routine maintenance. My last car, a 2016 Golf TSI Estate was particularly good having been in my ownership for c. 6 years and 100,000 miles and honestly didn't miss a beat. Lovely car OP. :thumbsup: A mate of a mate used to race a manual XJS in the JEC series until the engine broke a few years ago, and he hasn't managed to get it rebuilt yet. But what a great car!

I absolutely loved the V8 4.8 naturally aspirated engine that was in my old X5 4.8iS, so I definitely have a soft spot for this. Plus I loved that you could get these with a manual too.
