1996 Dodge Dakota 4x4에서 피트먼 암(pitman arm)을 교체한 후 휠의 유격이 줄었으나, 스티어링 휠이 직진할 때 거꾸로 되어 있음. 교체품 피트먼 암의 기어 톱니 4개 위치가 순정품과 약 25도 차이남.

브레이크 패드 교환

Mk5 Astra SRi에서 Ford Focus Zetec Mk2로 차량 변경을 검토 중. Focus Zetec의 후륜 드럼 브레이크가 우려사항. VW Polo, Golf Mk4 이상, Seat Leon, Prius 등 대부분의 차량이 후륜 디스크 브레이크를 장착하고 있는데 Ford가 구식 기술을 계속 사용하는 이유가 의문.

체크 엔진 경고등이 켜졌고 진단 코드에서 촉매변환기(촉매) 문제로 나타남. 딜러에서 양쪽 촉매변환기가 모두 불량이며 각각 약 $1K 정도라고 주장함.

르노 라구나(2000년식)에서는 신호등에 접근할 때 차가 완전히 멈추거나 거의 멈출 때까지 높은 기어에서 1단으로 미리 변속할 수 없었음. 볼보 V70(2006년식)으로 교체 후 이 문제가 개선됨.

변속기 오일 교환

자동변속기가 오랫동안 부드러움을 잃었고 아침에 처음 시동할 때 슬립이 발생합니다. 최근에 리버스 기어로 변속할 때 거친 진동이 발생했고, 큰 충격음 이후 리버스 기어가 중립처럼 작동하지 않습니다. 다른 기어는 정상이지만 드라이브 기어 진입 시 더 거칠어진 상태입니다.

2007 프론티어에 새로운 Capitol Precision Trac 타이어를 장착한 후 60 MPH 이상의 속도에서 진동 발생. 장착 시 밸런싱 완료 및 4휠 얼라인먼트 수행했으나 여전히 진동 존재. 타이어샵에서 밸런싱 재확인 결과 정상. 이전 BF Goodrich A/T 타이어 사용 시에는 진동 없음.

타이어가 림 옆 부분에서 상당한 손상을 입었고, 가장자리에 긁힌 자국이 많음. 타이어와 림이 변형되지 않은 것으로 보임. 폭스바겐 폴로, 주행거리 48,000km.

브레이크 패드 교환

5년간 운영 중인 샵 차량에서 간헐적인 문제 발생. 브레이크 부스터 어시스트가 손실되고 대시 경고등(ABS, 트랙션 컨트롤 등 여러 개)이 점등됨.

2008 Fiat Grande Punto 6단 수동변속기에서 가속 시 앞부분(운전자 발 위치 근처)에서 딸랑거리는 소음 발생. 공회전 상태 또는 액셀러레이터를 누르지 않을 때는 소음 없음. 클러치를 밟은 상태에서 엔진 회전수를 올릴 때는 소음 없으나, 회전수가 내려올 때 잠깐 소음이 들림.

우측으로 회전할 때 핸들이 미끄러지는 현상 발생. 우회전 중 갑자기 핸들이 좌측으로 미끄러지며 우측으로 크게 꺾어야 조정됨. 간헐적이지만 매우 위험한 상태.

브레이크 패드 교환

S6 자동변속기가 차갑고 외부 온도가 낮을 때 후진 기어가 인입되지 않음. 에러 또는 경고등 없음. DIS에는 'R'로 표시되지만 구동력 없음. 정상적인 '덜컹' 소리/느낌 없음(주차브레이크/풋브레이크 저항 만날 때). 전진 기어(D 등)는 정상 작동. 첫 시동 직후에만 발생하며, 유휴 시간이 지나거나 다른 기어로 주행하면 해결됨.

1983 Transit van과 Rover SD1 Vanden Plas EFi - 1990년대 초/중반부터 방치된 상태. Volvo 440si - 2007년 3월 이후 세금 미납, 판매 대기 중.

2006 VW Golf 프론트 두 개의 스프링에서 침대 스프링 같은 삐걱거리는 소리 발생. WD40를 분무해도 효과 없음. 계절에 따라 변함 (특히 여름에 더 조용함). 작은 범프마다 삐걱거림.

운전자 측면 앞 서스펜션에서 간헐적인 노킹음이 발생하며, 노킹음이 날 때 조인트나 체결부에 약간의 유격이 있는 것처럼 느껴짐. 후진 후 좌회전하다가 전진하면서 우회전하여 진입로에서 약 45~30도 각도일 때 노킹음이 발생. 제동 중에 한쪽으로 끌리는 현상(bump steer) 발생 가능.

낡은 VW의 볼 조인트 부트가 찢어짐. 볼 조인트는 과도한 유격이 없고 최근 안전검사 통과. 집에서 800km/500마일 떨어진 곳에서 운행해야 함.

미네소타 겨울철 운전 환경: 도로가 잘 제설되어 있고 겨울 운전의 약 90%가 건조하거나 젖은 포장도로. 눈이나 얼음 위에서의 운전은 약 10% 정도. 겨울 타이어를 연중 사용해야 하는지에 대한 의문.
