I'm learning about catalytic converters, and learned that a car with a functioning converter doesn't output carbon monoxide (CO) because it converts it into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). How exactly does someone die of CO poisoning if they leave the car running, if the converter ensures this doesn't happen? Is there a step I'm missing? 밸브 정비 중 의문점: 밸브가 수백만 번의 왕복 운동을 반복할 때, 실제로 회전하는지 아니면 씰 상태에서 위치가 고정되어 있는지? 회전이 가능하다면 씰 손실을 야기할 수 있는가? 스프링이 밸브를 눌러주지만 위치를 잠금하는 메커니즘이 없다.

1997 시빅 세단의 높이 조절을 원함. 현재 타이어 위 차체 간격이 약 100mm 정도이며, 더 낮추고 싶으나 과하지 않은 수준을 원함. 40mm와 60mm 스프링 중 어느 것이 더 높은지, 그리고 스프링이 차체를 60mm 낮추는 것인지 아니면 타이어 위 간격이 60mm가 되는 것인지 불명확함.

96 쉐보레 G10 밴, 5.0 엔진. 배기 누수 의심. 우측 배기 플랜지 주변의 작은 누수 보고되었으나 수리 불가. 이전부터 지속되는 드라이빙 문제 발생. 고속도로에서 떨림 현상 발생.

배기 매니폴드(주철 제조)에 O2 센서를 장착해야 하는데, 주철에 용접할 수 없음. 근처 정비소도 주철 용접이 불가능. 플랜지 근처 평면 부분에 18mm x 1.5 나사 구멍을 뚫고 태핑(탭핑)할 수 있는지 궁금함. 주철 매니폴드를 드릴링하고 태핑할 때 주의사항이 필요한지 확인 필요.

머플러 교환

2023 닛산 프론티어 프로 4X에서 배기 및 머플러에 과도한 녹이 발생하고 있음. 같은 모델의 아버지 차량보다 훨씬 심한 상태. 신호대기 중에도 머플러에서 금속이 식으면서 나는 소리(threat tinting sound)가 들림. 일반적으로 시동을 끈 후에만 들리는 소리인데 주행 중에도 들려서 엔진이 과열되는 것 아닌지 우려됨.

1997 GMC Yukon 5.7L. 시동 시 총성 같은 음향 발생, 연기가 실내로 유입. PCV 밸브와 밸브 커버에 연결된 센서 1개가 불어나감. 재시동 후 주행 가능하나 공회전이 불안정함.

새로운 플렉시블 배기 파이프 설치 후 엔진이 작동 온도에 도달하면서 차 내부에서 타는 플라스틱 냄새 발생. 엔진룸에서 강한 탄 플라스틱 냄새 감지. 플렉시블 파이프가 다른 부품에 닿지 않음을 확인.

Solstice 터보 차량. V-밴드 클램프(터보-캣 연결부)를 교체한 후 엔진이 훨씬 부드럽게 작동하지만 온도가 올라감. VVT 액추에이터 교체 전에는 시속 80마일 주행 시 205-211°F 유지, 교체 후 185-190°F로 내려갔음. 오늘 V-밴드 클램프 교체 후 엔진은 매우 부드럽지만 가속력이 약해진 느낌. 현재 수온이 이전보다 높음.

캘리포니아 공인 촉매변환기 AP Exhaust 749233 Direct Fit 및 740566 단일 교체 모델을 구할 수 없음. AP Exhaust에 연락했으나 폐업 상태이며 재개 여부 불명. 주(State) 목록에는 없지만 CARB/캘리포니아 공인이라고 표시된 단일 촉매변환기를 찾을 수 있음.

2016 Dodge Charger 5.7 자동변속기. 80-90 mph에서 차체 진동 발생. 스티어링 휠에는 진동 없음. 악셀과 브레이크 페달에서 진동 느껴짐. 가스나 브레이크를 밟지 않아도 진동 발생. 90 mph에서 브레이크 적용 시 진동 심화. 프론트 부품 수리(로드 류 교체) 후 문제 시작.
