Our 2000 Tacoma has 350,000 miles and has been very well-maintained. Never skipped an oil change or transmission service, even replaced the timing chain twice as preventive maintenance. I have a Mitsubishi Galant 2003, 2.4L engine with 234k miles on it. When I drive it the temperature gauge gets up to exactly midway, until exactly 30 minutes. Then it goes up to about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way up and then fluctuates between that point and midway after that. What started all this was that I was seeing the temperature gauge going up and found a small radiator leak and small leaks in my radiator hoses. So I replaced the radiator, coolant temperature sensor, radiator hoses, and the thermostat. Ever since I've had the car (I got it with 48k on it) I've never seen the temperature gauge

For example, it seems switching from some high wattage headlights to much lower wattage LED's frees up more of the alternator's power capacity. But, does this mean the alternator (or other electrical components like the voltage regulator) will start to run hotter? (to dissipate excess power via heat?) Or, does the decrease in overall electrical load simply get handled by just easing up the load on the engine making it easier to spin the alternator in the first place?

So my car has been overheating for over 1 year. It overheated during summer or when I went 80mph only. I recently saved up enough money to get the car fixed. I brought it to my mechanic and informed him of how long it was overheating for. He replaced the water pump, thermostat and radiator and timing belt and a few gaskets. He said he test the head gaskets several times and said it came back negative as being blown. So he did not replace the head gasket and I don't think he visually inspected it. This question seems to provoke a lot of folks on the Ridgeline forum, where I originally asked. People either hate VCM or think it’s fine. I was considering a VCM stopper device. I see a lot of arguments that make sense on both sides of the discussion. My 23 Ridgeline RTL-E is smooth and if I didn’t know VCM was in there, I’d never notice. The reason I asked (am asking) is from the standpoint of longevity. I’ve heard multiple mechanics whom I respect say they don’t like it. In their opinion, it can lead to build up in cylinders and wear out rings, as well as premature wearing of engine mounts.

2019 Honda Odyssey This seems outrages to me, even for Honda parts, and significantly more than what I see posted online for just parts only I got MSRPs from the Honda Dream Shop. You can maybe forgo the serpentine belt and serpentine belt tensioner, but I would opt in to replace them when you do this job. I drive a 2014 Honda CR-V. My steering wheel vibrates whenever my car speed is between 30-40 mph. Once past 40 mph, the vibration stops completely. While most explanation mentions about bad CV joint, motor mount, loose lug nuts, unbalanced tires, stuck brake caliper, etc but it doesn’t address the issue as to why it only vibrates between 30-40 mph and not before or after. It is very steady even from 60 mph and beyond. Any idea what is the problem?

So my 2002 Daewoo Lanos reached the end of its life (engine failed) about a month and a half ago. Once I diagnosed the problem and made the decision that the car is going to be junked, rather than repaired, I started looking for another used car with the features that I want. My wife’s secondary car is a 2015 Honda CRV, with ~ 194,000 miles on it. She’s become reluctant to drive it far, because she believes/ has been told by someone that she should change out the alternator and the starter motor, before they fail. To date, neither has given any indication of trouble. Thoughts on replacing these two? (She actually does like this car, and somewhat prefers it over her 2021 CRV)

My 2014 Honda Accord is having issues starting, it’ll start intermittently. Some days I have no problems at all and other days it will take 2 or 3 attempts to start. Already had it checked with a mechanic, he assured me everything is fine. Starter, alternator and battery are all okay. Tomorrow I will be taking it to the Honda Dealership, hopefully everything works out. This is very stressing and disappointing. I thought Hondas were great cars, now I’m considering buying a Lexus.

Hello! I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with 185,000 miles on it. Things are tight financially right now and so I’ve been trying to get this car to last as long as possible before investing in a new one. A year or two ago, a mechanic told me that I needed to get a bunch of work done on my car. We did some of it but saved the front struts and CV axles and are now trying to decide if it’s worth it to spend the money on this. So, I’m asking for some advice from all of you. 2020 Honda Accord. I’m now realizing that the lower ball joints use self locking clinch nuts. Have never heard of clinch nuts before. Anyways the service information says to replace them.
