2011 Jeep Liberty: 2014년 4월 오일팬 손상으로 무기름 상태 운행 후 수리. 10월부터 엔진 노킹(叩く음) 시작. 이후 2014년 10월, 2015년 3월, 7월, 2016년 5월에 반복적으로 노킹 발생. 수리점에서 탭펫(tappet) 마모, 리프터(lifter) 블리드다운 진단. 2016년 5월 심한 노킹으로 운행 불가.

2004 Subaru Outback가 영하(화씨 0도 이하)의 매우 추운 아침에 짧은 거리 주행 후 시동이 걸리지 않음. 아침에는 정상 시동되지만 약 400m 주행 후 20분 뒤 엔진은 회전하지만 불이 붙지 않음. 30분 정도 시간을 두면 쉽게 시동됨.

N62 V8 엔진을 블록까지 분해 중이며, 실린더 벽 상태를 확인하고 싶음. Alusil 블록은 일반적인 방식으로 호닝이 불가능하다는 정보를 들었음. 호닝으로 손상을 검사할 수 있는지, 그리고 블록이 오버보어(over-bore)되어야 하는 경우 블록이 완전히 사용 불가능해지는지 확인 필요.

시트로앵 크사라 해치백 1.6 가솔린 - 엔진 온/냉 상태 상관없이 유휴 회전 중 꺼짐 현상 발생. 스로틀 바디 청소 후에도 증상 지속.

A year ago at car inspection, I had to have a brake job. This year, the brakes failed again, due to what they said was a faulty part, which they were able to get replaced by the manufacturer + $50 for the labor. Their standard labor was probably $125 for that job. They offered to split the balance of the labor charge. But I feel like I paid for the labor a year ago. It’s not my fault it was a damaged part. I managed to get them to drop the charge, but he told me it was standard to charge whatever labor they weren’t able to get covered by the manufacturer. Is it standard? If it is, I’ll pay it.

BMW E46 3-Series M3(S54B32)와 330(M54B30) 엔진 비교 시 같은 NA 인라인 식스 실린더이고 VANOS를 모두 사용하는데도 출력 차이가 큼 (M54: ~230HP vs S54: ~340HP). 배기량 차이(3.0L vs 3.2L)로는 설명할 수 없는 큰 성능 차이의 원인이 무엇인지 궁금함.

2005 닛산 무라노에서 리드미컬한 쿵쿵거리는 소음 발생. 속도가 빨라질수록 소음 빈도도 빨라짐. 진동이나 다른 증상은 없음. 바퀴 회전 속도와 소음 빈도가 연동됨.

Fiat 500 comment is interesting ie the car has to be driven. I know this is a pointless rant but I am beginning to feel as though I am the only sane person to drive on the roads in Oxfordshire and wanted to see if I was alone in this observation.In the good old days (I'm 39) most people would drive at a sensible speed.
