What could have caused 1 brake pad to wear down to metal while my other 3 pads are ~50% used?
It's must likely down to siezed slide pins, if it's a sliding caliper setup (more likely), or a siezed piston if it's a dual piston caliper. If it's the slide pins, it's a fairly easy fix - extract the pins (which can be more or less difficult depending on how stuck they are!), clean them up, clean up the holes they slide in, re-grease and reassemble with new gaiters (the little rubber boots that stop dirt getting in - chances are these will have split, which is a common cause of this problem). Last time I did this, at the same time as doing the pads, it only added half an hour or so to the time taken. A stuck caliper can also be freed off, but is liable to stick again, so in that case it might be better to have them replaced or refurbished. Did you ask the mechanic who changed them about it? They'd have had to do something to free it, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to fit the new pads in! If they didn't sort it properly, get it fixed ASAP, as not only will the replacement be s

2012 Jeep Compav compass I noticed a persistent squealing coming from thr front end of my car (I think the front left). It happens when I have my foot on the accelerator and over 40-45 mph. It stops when I let my foot off the gas, and only occurs under load. This alone would take me to the engine, but it responds to me turning the wheel. It gets louder when turning right and quieter when left. It also stops when I let off gas. My original thought was brakes, but I wanted to see if the community had an idea. Thanks!

2004 Camry with about 160K miles (and I hope to drive it until the kids take away my keys in a few years). For the last month or two, sometimes when I’m slowing gently almost to a stop, I get what I think is ABS activation: loudish fast pulsing sound (roughly five pulses/sec; almost a vibration) that I can feel in the brake pedal. Maybe more likely on a slow speed turn while braking (I do a half-K turn to back into my driveway). Is that ABS? Does this require fast attention? Would my mechanic’s code readers be able to find any useful codes? (Or do I just report the symptom and let him/them inv

Hi everyone! I recently bought a 2016 Tacoma SR5 2.7L 4WD with 70k mi. At idle in D or R like at a red light (idles around 550rpm) the truck vibrates. Sometimes it’s bad and shakes my head and eyes and feels like someone is kicking my seat. It tends to get worse the longer I sit at a red light. It’s worse with the brake pedal pressed, but happens a bit in drive with the parking brake on and not pushing the brake pedal. There are tons of threads about this on the tacoma forums and there doesn’t seem to be “one” solution for everyone. I have cleaned the MAF and throttle body without much or any

I am here with another question Civic (european version) sedan 2010 80k miles. I have a situation which s been going on for long time and it only gets worse. Couple of mechanics seen it and i trust my guy however no solution: While driving downhill if you apply brakes, the car doesnt really shake strong until you press the pedal stronger but there is loud noise and brakes dont perform well. If you press the pedal tougher it will get super loud. This sound is hard to explain but what i can tell you is: when washing machine comes close to the end rolling like mad cow, sometimes machine starts to
