Starting a new thread to tidy up a previous thread that started as one thing and then spiraled out of control!..Ever since I started driving I have wanted to design and build my own car.. As the title saysDoes anyone feel the need to get a bigger car for the perceived or real additional protection they offer?I'm in a 2010 Prius and when I'm on a fast road or motorway, I can't help but feel that a Range Rover or Volvo XC90 would completely destroy me (and more imporantly the kids) if something was to go badly wrong.Am I wrong for wanting to go down the route of getting a similar size vehicle just for the sake of evening out the playing field should anything ever happen?I appreciate this kind of question can go very wrong with a lot of people saying that if everyone thought less

I saw some chat on FB about Elite, the guy who won the £1.8m dream thing had recently won the £200k one too, lucky boy!Lots of accusations flying about but I'm not buying a fix, it wouldn't be worth the risk tbh, if you were determined to cheat you wouldn't use the same person twice, if anything I reckon it gives it a bit more authenticity.

With the untimely demise of my Honda CRV (rip), I needed a new daily. The Honda's been brilliant for the 3 years I'd owned it - long and short journeys, tip runs, shoot truck... It hadn't put a foot wrong and I still think they're cracking motors. Sadly, corrosion had taken its toll to the inner arches, resulting in an MOT failure, and a potential bill that was uneconomical. As an avid driver and petrol head i have always chosen to grab the keys to the car as a means of enjoyment, a means of stress relief, of therapy. Be that road trips, b-road blasts, car shows. But. It feels like its finally gotten to the point where the cost is prohibitively stopping me from enjoying cars. Car shows - unless you are talking your small village field type shows, the majority of major shows will cost you near £100 for a family to visit. If you can stomach the cost then you have to factor fuel in. Nearing a £100 a full tank and my car does about an avg 24mpg from its turbocharged

Years ago I bought my wife a Citroen AX in which to learn to drive. She used to drive it to her workplace with me supervising, and I would drive it on to mine. After a while I got sick of messing about with the L plates and just left them on. A small car with L plates seems to turn everyone into a tt. It was always quite amusing to lead them into a bend faster than they were comfortable.

Time moves on for us all... what seemed like yesterday with the children being small all of a sudden the eldest hit 18, like most young boys from as an earliest age he's always had an interest in cars, sharing the same house as me, he was always going to...!!!Every opportunity he would come out and "help", i say help, he'd watch but would soak it all up.Entering into the teenage years it was much less so and we got the full on Kevin and Perry experience, until he hit 18... then the conversation started going more towards getting his license.
