After a few years in Subaruโ€™s interspersed with a bmw and a honda Ive scratched an itch thats been with me for 20 years.I was 16 playing 5 a side and another player arrived in his white RX7. Iโ€™ve lusted after one ever since. Iโ€™ve never been brave enough and never really had the opportunity to own one until now. 18-24 was too expensive on running costs and insurance as I was doing 70 miles a day commute. 24- present day Ive been in company cars and the missus has used whatever the second car is as her daily. Hence the hot hatches and imprezas. Mode of transport for her. Fun weekend car for me.

Apparently the 13b in this is a hand grenade with the pin pulled. In reality they are quite robust. I will caveat that with if you look after them properly. Treat them like a 4 banger in your golf and your in for a bad time. They donโ€™t like being started and stopped when cold. They flood the engine. So shunting about a driveway is bad. Oil consumption. They use oil by design. Thereโ€™s an oil injection pump which injects oil from the sump into the combustion chamber to lubricate the apex seals. Because of this 10w40 mineral oil or semi synthetic is recommended and is dirt cheap. Change every 3k miles as fuel dilution is a thing on these. No point in running ยฃ80 fully synth it causes ash buildup as the additives don't burn clean. The engines donโ€™t tend to let go in a big way like lets say a piston engine throwing a rod. They just ware out and give ooor compression results leading to poor starting. Healthy engines are in the high 7s and 8 bar. Mine was tested last year by the previous owner and was high 7s bordering on 8 on both front and rear rotor. Anything starting with a 5 is tired and just about ready for a refresh. This leads me on to the cost of a refresh. Itโ€™s cheap compared to a piston engine. 8-10k wasnโ€™t unreasonable for a nicely built impreza engine without going nuts. Itโ€™s give or take 3k for one of these (assuming your rotors and housings are good). They have a lot going on in the engine bay. The twin turbo sequential system is complex and constantly being cooked by the engine. They run very hot. Rubber hoses go

Possibly a strange topic for some, but Iโ€™ve always had a fascination with headlamp washers, and in particular systems that involve wipers. Iโ€™ve had a couple, namely a Saab 900 and an E30 BMW. Some other manufacturers like Volvo and Mercedes were well known for them tooHowever, this evening I randomly found the following image of a Talbot Solaro, and it got me thinking about what other cars are there where headlight wipers were availableA few others that spring to mind:Any other obscure ones?

Priced at ยฃ5000 less with some stonking finance deals, it should have done better.....but was it just too expensive to build? The big gap between the outgoing cars and the new one is a good idea and possibly intentional to create the biggest possible impact. I think this is going to do very well indeed. I'm looking forward to it, and seeing my first one on the road. If they couldn't build cars well enough to compete with Audi, BMW, and Mercedes or lo

I've got my Phaeton with the 6HP to do soon, a bit more involved as a job, but it's already had a box and a torque converter in the last 50k, so it hasn't been left forever without maintenance - I've heard the 6HP19s seem to like to give trouble! It's my first torque converter auto (in 70 cars of manuals, and 1 DSG!)If I'd kept my old E320cdi I'd have certainly ended up getting the gearbox serviced. I bought it with 104k on

Collected this yesterday. I had been waiting for the right spec car since Christmas. I wanted; Clubsport pack, PDK, dual zone climate, either shark or gentian blue, yellow sticking, leather dash, sports chrono, rear camera, FPSH and Porsche warranty. Everything that came up matching that was either over budget, sold before it was advertised or sold the day it was advertised. I even lost out on a car to Jay Kay, cool story, bro. I left my details and requirements with the likes of RPM and JZM in the hope of a call before a car was advertised. There was some time pressure. I naively booked a tra
