MK1RS Bruce said: My wife has a mk3 focus RS and I would agree with a lot of what is said above it doesn't feel that fast but when you look at the speedo it certainly piles on the speed, it feels best when you are absolutely on it.They seem to come alive in 3rd gear but by the time you're there you're breaking the law already, there's point and squirt fun to be had in 1st and 2nd but I presume the mapping holds a bit back in earlier gears which is why even a mild map feels transformative. Mine is still 100% standard and initially I thought that would be enough but I think it really needs just a bit more theatre from a sound point of view (although I've yet to find an aftermarket exhaust that sounds the way I'd like) and a bit more of a notable difference between "Normal" and "Sport" apart from the throttle response and the occasional pops and bangs. A basic "stage 1" will probably come soon but then it's a potential slippery slope.The reason it appealed to me over other "super hatches" was that the looks are a lot more "Focus TDCi", especially when not in Nitrous Blue, so you're not constantly being chased by people wanting a race or drawing too much attention when parked up but I get that's the opposite of what a lot of people want. The MK2 definitely has a huge appeal for me, I loved the ST I had but the interior is dated and I really fancied trying something with a clever 4WD system as it's not something I've owned before, I'm fairly happy so far and am hoping depreciation will be fairly kind compared with the Merc and VAG alternatives. The main contender I had in view was probably the Megane but they are scarce and the spec I wanted even more so but I'm glad I got the Focus.
