I remember driving into London in 2015 in a new Tesla Model S. I was sat behind an Aston Martin Rapide, on The Ridgeway in a traffic jam in North London. He had paid 3 times the price for a similarly proportioned car that was sat there going nowhere like me, but belching out heat and fumes at 10 mpg in the queue. I just could not reconcile why you would chose the Aston, it was so far behind the Tesla in so many ways, but buyers did and they still do.I suppose some people are only happy if they are publicly showing off their bank balance by the things they are seen in. If it is a T shirt, it has

If weight is a metric to measure how good a car is, how much does say, a new BMW M3 weigh? Compared to a Model 3 Tesla?Time to recharge - overnight for most owners, therefore negligable. Public charging? 25 mins probably? Only requires being done on a very long run, when normal people would be stopping for a comfort break. Present company excepted obvs. For the general public and their daily drivers, what issue is there with an EV and cornering dynamics? Bearing in mind most new cars these days are of the soft roader format.Sound - for most people out there quieter is better. As usual, you're applying your subjective skewed view, rather than the real world view.Always excuses with the EV crowd. Going by your metric as a basic A-B ICE wins hands down because it has the ultimate range and quickest recharge of all known ways of driving. Why the need for anything else?It isn't a subjected view either. ICE cars by fact have a higher top speed, are lighter weight, have a audible sound, recharge quicker, can go further, can go around corners better, brake better. I mean if EV's are so great why not put your hand in your back pocket and buy one? Those arent excuses, they're statements of facts. The vast majority of people out there genuinely dont give a stuff about having an ICE engine under the bonnet. Why the need for anything else?"Absolute range and quickest refuelling are not metrics that are an issue out there in the real world. Whats average journey distance in the UK? Whats average miles per year in the UK? Neither of those metrics require anyone to drive 1000 miles non stop and pissing in to a lucozade bottle.BricktopST205 said: "It isn't a subjected vi

I like V8's, and I like that you can hear the engine/exhaust more in a convertible generally as well. So count me in. I always enjoyed driving my BiL's E93 M3 too, plus I've also always fancied a V8 Mustang.
I need a second car to pick kids up from school, do the odd commute once a week and I would like to do the odd track day in it/hillclimb just for fun. I've always ended up in fast FWD stuff and have built race prepped stuff before. I can't justify the cost of doing that these days but I do need a second family car and fancy something RWD that actually feels like a rear biased car that I can provoke a little and have a lot of fun with on a track day. Which kinda leads to me bmw... Ideally an m3 but I'm not stretching anywhere near that budget right now. Could do with some help from some bmw gee

If they're all queuing at the services then the roads are clearer and safer and their family has a more pleasant Christmas lunch. Fair
