Since I started this thread in July we have taken delivery of the Z8 and it has already propelled us to the southern coast of Spain - so it has seen Africa. My initial expectations have been met and sometimes exceeded, and also not met. But there might be a reason for this.Having spent many hours detailing and getting to know the car, I have to say that I am very impressed with the build quality and the design. It’s a fabulous thing to sit in and to look at (both from inside and out). While the front aspect might be slightly too 507 for me, the rear quarters are automotive porn in my view. And the AC Schnitzer 19”wheels really set it off in a way that the originals nor the 20” Alpinas don’t.Also, I have been delighted to be able to go to my dealer to get this and that (obscure bits of trim etc) and the response has been “in Germany, be with us in 5 days”. Of course, some of the prices are off the scale but the availability is still there and should be for many years. The concept of being able to get it worked on by my local BMW dealer (at normal BMW prices) and knowing that I could get parts was a MAJOR factor in getting a Z8 rather than a McLaren or anything like that. And also that it was unlikely to depreciate much, and that the company was going to be around in 10 years time.It gets attention like nothing else I have driven (perhaps similar to the NSX nowadays actually). Of course it drives like a truck. And the performance is not as hot as I think it should be, requiring a good press before it decides to get a move on. However, opinion by those who might know indicate this might be a MAFS issue so this will be checked when we get home.These cars are an awful lot of money and so much more can be purchased for the same amount but it is truly a very special car in terms of experience (if not total driving satisfaction). Even more than the NSX and I never thought I would say that. So, overall, I remain a happy bunny.
