Fiat 500 comment is interesting ie the car has to be driven. So,I wonder if we have become increasingly used to larger, plusher, quieter cars and vans ( mentioned above) which impose a more relaxed driving style or cruising as in the U.S. Our friends in Milwaukee conform that this is still the commonest driving mode.Incidentally we have become increasingly fond of pick up trucks here.Add to this automatics and tiptronics which are often left in “Drive” after the novelty has worn off.Edited by Lester H on Thursday 14th March 10:02

I know this is a pointless rant but I am beginning to feel as though I am the only sane person to drive on the roads in Oxfordshire and wanted to see if I was alone in this observation. In the good old days (I'm 39) most people would drive at a sensible speed. Every now and again you would meet a little old lady driving at 40mph but in general that was the exception rather than the norm. Fast forward to today and the norm is for me to be stuck behind people (of all ages, sex, race, and weight... before anybody tries to go there) doing 30mph in a well sighted 50 or 60. The speed is often dangero

To access the engine you needed to tip back the drivers seat using a handle hidden under the seat. It was very similar to the handle to move the seat forward and backwards. So jump in, start, engage first and a

It's amazing that you can take a quarter-million pounds worth of V12 GT, combine it with a priceless episode of racing history, and result in something that looks like a cheaply done promotional stunt. I think it needed a lot more subtlety - perhaps just blue accents on the wheels not the whole thing, and keep the stripe but omit the roundel? Agree it looks like the result of someone being bored on Gran Turismo. Was re-watching Chris Harris' video on the FF he briefly financed, would love those cars to come down in value a bit more ;-) The FF / Lusso V12 must be the only car in history to be

Some cars seem either blindingly average or else are a bit tough on the eye to most, but somehow you just can't sell them as they have won a place in your soul.I give you my Renault Avantime. A 2 door people carrier only the French could possibly have made with questionable reliability, build quality, fit and finish. Then add in looks only a mother could love and well, why have i still got it? I mean, come on, 2 doors? For me it's the fact i never ever see another one unless i visit a friend in Bordeaux. It's the crazy design that is somehow so much fun. It's the sense of achievement when you

It’s nice, but collector wise you really want a 3 door. I miss these being £500, I used to just buy another when the one I was driving got a bit too high maintenance.

I have on occasions, calmly and quietly, say meeting at next red lights pointed out to them that it can be classed as dangerous driving, being 6 points. If they'd gone all dashcam too I state that I have one, and I'd be within my rights to report them

Really - there are so many more interesting cars around for that sort of money....Each to their own, I always felt the 16v felt 'special', leagues above the Fords available in competition in ride and handling certainly and I'd happily daily one now. The 1499cc TDCi unit that is still used now is also very good, though I'm not sure if it's just the 1560cc unit that has been fiddled with. Yes, the 1.5 is just an evolution of the 1.6 to meet emissions, peak cylinder pressures and temps I believe.I almost got a 1.6 in the MK4 Mondeo but it's a big car, the supposed MPG gap between that and a 140 2.0 would be gone in the real world I reckonI had a 14 plate 1.6 TDCi estate - ave

Holy crap. I thought it was just me being impatient until earlier this week when I was driving in a 30 down an empty road. In front of me were 6 or 7 cars all doing about 18-23mph. WTF. I realised it wasn't just me that was annoyed with her because one by one we ended up overtaking her. I've never seen anyone being overtaken by so many people in one go.But yes, it seems that too often I'll encounter someone doing 10-20% under the speed limit. It's especially annoying when I'm in the slow lane on a 50mph D/C doing 50 and you have to go around some idiot doing 40 in the middle lane.I might start
