If I perceive the hazards are increasing, I'll back off below the posted limit. If I perceive the hazards to be past, I'll exceed it where appropriate. * Yes, I know that technically I'm breaking the law and open to receiving a ticket. I get it. Doesn't make my driving suddenly unsafe, and doesn't mean that I need
I think the issue with speed limits in general is that they are data driven as opposed to real life situations. There's a 30mph stretch near me that drags on for miles and miles. I guarantee if I drive at 30mph it will be seconds before someone is up my backside and this is because the limit is too low for the road. People tune themselves into driving and a 30mph limit has familiarities - houses, schools, shops, etc. When none of that is present people naturally drive a little faster. 40mph is more than comfortable along that stretch, the road is very well sighted and should a child run out of a driveway you'd have enough time to stop, get out your car and make sure his shoes were tied properly! I often drive (or ride) and in the back of my head tell myself what I would speed I would do if the limit was abolished. It's quite a good exercise actually as it helps to highlight hazards.

A few years ago I saw Porsche 992 racers on 18", which looked ridiculous. So I asked why?Because they drive so much better on 18" sir.OK, I'll have a JAS Tensei NSX on 18" please...
