But you're right, it does seem an odd comparison, who the hell would buy the BMW?

I did the backbox delete on my M5 and the noise was heavenly. The only downside was you lost the intake noise as the exhaust was that much louder. I've heard a bunch of aftermarket exhausts and for me, the delete is the best sounding and also the cheapest.
