Cool car - very promising - lets hope most of the design makes it to production
As someone who has spent October so far driving 2200 miles around Europe in my 2CV, and so am rather loved-up on affection for the Tin Snail, I really like this. The exterior is a brilliant update of the original ripple-bonnet, and I hope can be brought to production largely unchanged. The interior, with the deckchair bench seats and festoon lighting, is far too whimsical to make it into a showroom car, but shows they have the essential joi de vivre that makes people still love the 2CV. It's been great encountering Amis and Topolinos on my travels the past ten days - very much in the spirit of the classic European economy car and this reborn 2CV would be a perfect step up between those and the likes of the R5. Surely the new one needs to be called the 2CE - it rhymes and acknowledges that there is no 'vapeur' these days.Kawasaki2000 said: Judging by reaction here I have to ask how did Ferrari and, to a degree, Jaguar get it so wrong? Retro only really hits for very specific types of nostalgia.Jaguar already experienced this with the S-Type. Retro revivals worked brilliantly with the Beetle, the Mini and the 500. They evoke a youthful, sunny, care-free, chic, Sophia Loren/Audrey Hepburn, post-war optimism. They're small, cute and funky. The S-type (and the contemporary Rover 75) were the bad sort of retro - fusty, conservative, stale tobacco, suburban, professional respectable. Even with the caddis cadre of the Mk2 in its heritage, the S-Type was - and would always be - a hard sell.

But then one with a massive battery that may need replacing does focus the mind somewhat...
To my eyes, that design screams “make me in a shooting brake version!”

Keeping repeating what it isn't doesn't answer the follow-up question I asked (twice now!)You say no conspiracy theory yet you are doing the Jaguar thing of protesting too much!!In marks out of 10, how cross will you be if this car is a success?I want Jaguar to be a success but I can see through the emperor's new clothes. This is JLR's cybertruck (the comparisons were being made at the time of the 00 reveal and seem even more apposite now) and everyone who wanted to be 'on trend' thought that was a good idea right up until the point

Change was and is needed."insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"Change in any market is about babysteps. Well, at least when you have a vast community, and folks are expecting about the same thing, but then different.Yeah, I remember when I got my iPhone 1. It was basically 90% like my Nokia 3210. Except completely different. They should have made it more like an old Nokia and maybe then it would have

At Alpine does a different person design the front and the back? In the 110 I love the front end but hate the rear. Same with this.
