However when I go shooting, quite often in the middle of nowhere, a petrol Range Rover (or hybrid) would be, for me at least, a better and easier choice. Yup. Long drive in the early morning where the final chunk is the middle of nowhere and no charging at the destination is currently crap for an EV. Especially if not then staying overnight but coming home. It's not that it isn't doable but that you're not going to pay money to be hassled. Same with other sports. Sailing wouldn't work for me either for same reasons. An EV for daily stuff would work brilliantly and much better than an ICE for me. But, most of the folk I know who have Rangies just use them for simple trips that are never far from a charger at any point and much of the time the car is in town or the suburbs so they'll work perfectly and it just boils down to which one is cheaper. I just changed a PHEV for a BEV with a similar range to the FFRRE. The longest trip I’m ever likely to do in it is to a holiday place in The Highlands that we go to once a year. I haven’t done this trip yet but the route planner says I need to stop to charge for 14 minutes in a journey of 409 miles that’s going to take over 7 hours. For the convenience of not visiting petrol stations for the entire rest of the year this is worth it for me. Admittedly it has destination charging which makes planning easier.I don’t care what the fuel/electricity costs but I do care if I’m going to be inconvenienced by charging, especially with family and friends in the car, I really don’t think I’m going to be though.We always stop at least twice when we do this trip to let the dog walk. I’ll combine one of those stops with a charge.
