Great history, but mad money. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202608084...Horrid car, that dismal engine really ruins a 5 series. When people bleat about how terrible EVs are they need to remember just how crap 2 litre four pot diesels were!Spot the N47 owner, but that’s nonsense. Apart from being a clattery bag of sadness at idle, it’s a strong engine with loads of low down torque and just pulls on to silly miles
No it's not crap, it has many features that are highly desirable in a light commercial vehicle, private hire car, or maybe water craft but it lacks some critical features that are highly desirable in an expensive executive car. The sloppy and laggy power delivery, the tiny power band, and more importantly the constant grumbling and vibration when it's not outright clattering and rattling all hugely let the side down in something that's not a utilitarian box where all that matters is durability and economy. The rest of the car was so good in every way that such a prosaic engine stood out all the more. I think convincing European buyers that a 4 cylinder diesel was a remotely acceptable engine for an expensive car was a great swizz, I wonder if the realisation of just how ordinary they could make their "premium" cars before their customers noticed of cared is one of the root causes of what dross so many supposedly higher end cars are today.Edited by GeniusOfLove on Thursday 13th August 15:32

A few years ago I saw Porsche 992 racers on 18", which looked ridiculous. So I asked why?Because they drive so much better on 18" sir.OK, I'll have a JAS Tensei NSX on 18" please...
