I did the backbox delete on my M5 and the noise was heavenly. The only downside was you lost the intake noise as the exhaust was that much louder. I've heard a bunch of aftermarket exhausts and for me, the delete is the best sounding and also the cheapest.

All is well with the M5.the first diversity unit replacement i tried - was indeed dying, hence the weak signal where it would only remotely lock and unlock the car next to the rear wheel...so took that out, found another replacement online, and so far its been good as gold and we now have working fobs. Small wins.Next was the horns - i initially bought a pair of new horns on ebay but they had the wrong connector, so they got returned. I then tried another set of horns.. got the bumper off, tried both new horns and - same issue. Only the low horn works, high horn doesn't (or vice versa, cant remember). I tried both connectors with both horns so eliminate the issue being the car - so i've concluded that the set of used horns i bought, also had a faulty low or high horn just like the car currently has.. couldn't make it up! So im just going to buy a pair of new ones from the main dealer for piece of mind and just change both, just because.Mr12volt also fitted, works a treat considering the CCC unit is 20 plus years old;Also had the Modstock treatment on the exhaust. This was the big one for me as i really wanted to open up some noise without going OTT seen as this is a weekend and 'special car'. They dropped the exhaust, and removed the sound deadening from all four rear boxes.When i start it now, its loud - very deep toned. Driving normally or under full whack, under say 3k revs it can be slightly boomy - i wouldnt say too droney as its not over bearing but on a steady motorway cruise at 70 you'd know the exhaust wasnt standard then.. it doesn't resonate through the cabin. Its not annoying but on a long run or full day of driving it could be tiresome if you were just plodding through traffic.This is all made up by what happens higher in the rev range - it sounds absolutely glorious, almost exotic. You can stamp your foot on the pedal to hear it and i think it turns a lot of heads where people would expect something half exotic to roll past when it turns out to be an
