I also took a 1 mile detour off the motorway to visit a Tesco express for (much) cheaper refreshments than a motorway services.If you had averaged 80mph, you could have done that journey in two hours and had a relaxing extra hour at your destination.Edited by RSTurboPaul on Wednesday 2nd September 02:43 True, but it would've cost me more and made the journey less enjoyable for me.I'm never in a rush to get anywhere although I'm never late as I leave enough time with an added contingency for congestion. The last time I had to rush to get somewhere was about 2007 when I had to do a 90 mile motorway dash to get to a funeral after being held up. No-one came past me on that occasion. But since then, always leave extra time and opt for the more relaxing, for me, comfort drive with some podcasts on, with maybe a coffee and some sweets.FTFYOne persons idea of 'relaxing' is another person's idea of 'dawdling about for no good reason'.Being forced to travel needlessly slowly when faster options are obviously available with a similar safety profile is the exact opposite of 'relaxing'.
