I can imagine that bit. But that would be the same, I would suspect (but don’t know) if the winning bid was $20m, or $10m, or $2m with other donations up to that $40m placed with other charitable foundations for the sake of the argument.I’m not going to claim to be an expert by any stretch on this, but for some considerable time my wife has worked in the third sector in the UK, a large part of which was spent with UHNI and Trusts and Foundations. Donations at this sort of level usually take months if not years to arrange. Just seems an odd transaction. Even billionaires don’t have one too many glasses of champagne at a silly waving gala and idly toss in a bid like this. Or maybe they do.I’ll be happy to be better educated.
