Of course, the heatwaves hit and I realised that I hadn't been driving it quite as optimally so had to experiment even more to eke out another 5% of range. And then I just drove it in hybrid mode for a week to see what would happen if I didn't charge it. It was like I could focus on the enjoyment of driving without hypermiling every move. Edit: I mean, I know I can just drive it in EV mode and not worry about wasting 10% of the range because I've got a 400 mile range petrol backup, but I just can't bring myself to waste it. I think that's my perfectionism and tightwad mindset being challenged. Like I said, proper EVs are just not for me. Maybe as a weekend car but not as a daily.
