Is it a latent defect that the manufacturer has acknowledged and will remedy? If not do I accept the fault, do I sell the car, do I pay the main dealer to repair, do I pay an independent to repair? Can I repair by myself?OP, warranty or not, a car that's a few years old, typical miles and has been serviced as per manufacturer instructions shouldn't fail. Glad they're playing ball.I'm a big fan of self insurance except for the things that would be a disaster like house insurance. Given I had a £250,000 claim in 2019 after a house fire, I'll be continuing that 'policy'!I'd have to think after a £24,000 engine failure. Although I suspect that if one had to sort it out oneself, one would find a cheaper (and better) solution than letting a Land Rover dealer anywhere near it.
