Ive never understood that line of thinking - go out on even the busiest roads in the South East after 10pm or before 6am and there's plenty of space.I live in one of the most congested parts of the country and yet I can be on almost empty roads within 15 minutes for hours everyday...Don't get me wrong, I've got loads of quiet and empty roads on my doorstep even in the middle of the day luckily. But the main routes I use are heavy with traffic though, so the opportunity to overtake on those roads are very few and far between, because of the volume of cars for example. That was exactly the reason why I sold my V8 M3 as well, because I was mostly using it in heavy traffic, and I couldn't use the performance, plus I was only getting 17mpg from it whether I drove it fast or slow anyway. My current F82 M4 is pretty good in that regard in comparison though, because if you do go steady in it, it doesn't fly through fuel like the M3 did at least.
