To me FOTU is about the nostalgia of cars which used to be commonplace and are now rare - "don't see many of those any more". Cars which used to form the backdrop of daily life, but have now almost all been scrapped, leaving a handful of survivors to represent their fallen comrades. They don't have to be stboxes but they do have to have gone from being common to being rare.I think a lot is based on personal experience back in the day, but for me:- Peugeot 306, one of those cars that gets better the harder you drive it, even the regular models- Rover 200 R8, nice airy cabin, comfortable, good

A 2.0 HLX saloon in light metallic blue is one of my unicorn searches for a modern classic to enjoy when I retire.In the late 90s a friend was looking for a new car. I drove them to a 'Trade Centre' in Slough and one in London. They had many Fiats and Renaults.
