Had three Garmin dashcams, all bought when promotions/offers on so a bit less than full price. Really easy to work and swap between cars as they all share the same magnetic mounting.Screen is really easy to use with simple controls and you can link or not as you wish. Very easy to pop the card out and into a laptop if/when you need to send it to the insurer.5 days after getting my first one fitted, had the wing mirror smashed on our Volvo and the other driver refused to even admit she had hit the car. Sent the clip straight to the insurer and it was paid for and repaired very quickly. Saved u

Ive had a blackvue 590W, front and rear camera fitted for about 6 years, there very discrete with no screen, about the size of my thumb. Hard wired in with one of there voltage sensing devices. It is powered all the time but there is a small device next to the battery in the boot that monitors the cars battery level and if it gets to a certain level it just switches the power to the camera off. This means the cameras can record even when the car is turned off for about a week or two or even longer if you set it to be in impact detection mode.Camerashttps://blackvueuk.co.uk/product/blackvue-dr590-x-...Voltage Monitorhttps://blackvueuk.co.uk/product/blackvue-power-ma...in fairness the price of batteries to power the cameras when the car is turned off have plummeted and you could just use a power bank that allows 'through' charging like you would use for charging your phone, just make sure it is capable of supplying enough current and that it has enough capacity for how long you thing the camera would need to run without the car being used.To download the footage from it, its simply a case of turning the WIFI on the camera on and then you connect your phone / laptop / tablet to the wifi of the camera and then use the blackview app to alter its settings, view video, download / format the card etc etc.Edited by MB140 on Tuesday 22 September 14:31
