I can't be the only person who finds it rather amusing how some of the biggest complainers about the high fuel costs are also the most of the most vocal in NPE threads cheerleading for "regime changes" in certain oil-rich parts of the world and celebrating when their refineries, oil storage facilities and pipelines were blowm up with NATO planes and drones, massively reducing the global supply.. These people are not 200 IQ.

This vaguely works well during benign markets when all prices are and supply are stable but does fall apart rapidly when markets begin to increase volatility. For example, Brent Crude futures aren't the real price for what is being delivered today. Nor is spot. The spot is just an amalgamation of prices from different markets. Within which some prices are far higher and others lower. And the lower prices tend to be pre existing delivery contracts etc. So crude coming out of the ME hasn't been falling much with the general market trend, it has remained at a premium while other supplies devalue on beliefs that total supply is about to increase or the reverse. Also there is tanker shipping cost which was around $50k a day to charter but has now exceeded $1m. With some tankers that could equate to almost $30/barrel increase in cost on top of the price. We the consumers love to be angry at the petrol stations because that's all we see, we assume they're all part of a multinational exploitation ring and social media loves to make them the fall guy like it does brown people etc but ultimately, petrol stations are price takers not givers. They are competitive and have high fixed overheads which conspire to mean the risk from buggering around with pricing is too high, so on the whole they don't. The price they publish simply correlates to their costs, so that's overheads plus the contract obligations on supply. And luckily we hav
