So today I started on the steering wheel boss. As I explained before, to fit an aftermarket wheel you need the boss kit. This is fine as many places have boss kits for loads of different vehicles, apart from mine. This means custom or make my own. Obviously I’m making my own. So today I took a steering wheel to work to figure out the best way to approach this. The idea was to weld part of the skeleton from the OEM wheel to a aluminium tube and go from there, I quickly realised that it wasn’t just ally but an ally / magnesium alloy and didn’t fancy my chances at having it welded.My next option

Only a small bit of progress. Let’s just say when it comes to putting my drawings through cad man / bending software which take literally a couple of minutes a someone either forgets or just straight up is trying to piss me off on purpose, even though when they have cash jobs for themselves I do it straight away, Nat that I have a choice. So the next steps might be a bit long winded.Basically I need the seat rails and seat bolted down before I can carry on with the steering wheel due to wanting the right steering wheel position. Today I finished the hydraulic handbrake bracket and the end caps for the steering wheel and mount. Hopefully I can have the seats done by the weekend but I’m not holding my breath. Pay day tomorrow so will be ordering a few more parts. If nothing comes of the seats and other things I need cutting out I will be completely stripping out the interior to get started on weight saving.
