Re the Aussie debate... i'm no expert in anyone's motor industry, least of all Australia's, but from what I've pieced together over the years a lot of the models sold by Ford and Holden might have looked like models sold in other markets, they even started with such a car, but under the skin they were quite different. A lot of ruggedisation was required to make them suitable for driving across outback roads of questionable quality. A euro-market car would shake itself to bits, so they'd do the old "drive it until it starts to break, fix that and repeat" process.Over time the roads have improve

A euro-market car would shake itself to bits, so they'd do the old "drive it until it starts to break, fix that and repeat" process.Over time the roads have improved, the average Australian can now do near enough 100% of their motoring on proper tarmac, so it's no longer necessary to do that.As localisation is surprisingly expensive, and obvious precludes the sale of a true global car (with all the cost benefits that brings), if companies can do away with that they will. And they have done. It's cheaper to make a car in China and ship it to the UK than it is to build the car in the UK, I daresay the same is true for Australia.Exactly this - plus Australia realised their protectionism through tariffs was not actually helping them (especially when they wanted inward investment for the mines, etc.) - remove tariffs on those imports too...

I ended up selling it to move on to something else, as we usually do at that fickle age, but I've always hankered after another.I've viewed many Puma's that have promised to be amazing, only to be let down by predictable corrosion (a notable one being a 9k mile example a few years ago that had a fi
