XR3i kit selection and parts production.This as written by a 36 year old engineer- his background prior to GM/TT was aviation, exotic cars were not within his reach so until theTT days aircraft or motorcycles were his performance benchmark!At the time dad owned a 1972 1600 GT capri and a 1980 1300 Marina Saloon, the Capri on a good day would have high 80bhp and the Marina probably least said soonest mended!All of the kit TT produced was rapid in period, some a bit too quick for its own good (Triumph Acclaim and Twin Turbo Rover SD1 V8 I m looking at you!) Don t forget the much vaunted RS2000 had 110bhp and was all out at a bit over the ton, 0-60 in sub 9ish seconds. Quick for the day, which is what it should be benchmarked to.I was lucky enough to share Dad s journal with him when he was in his last days in a hospital bed, it brought a sparkle to his eyes thinking back nearly 40 years to what they got up to, some of it on the public road that would definitely be on operation snap in a heartbeat these days!Edited by The ArtfulBodger on Monday 7th September 18:36Edited by The ArtfulBodger on Monday 7th September 18:37 Lovely memories of your Dad.
