Planes themselves have been designed to have metal containment boxes where lithium batteries are used and also designed in a way that the cells cannot have the domino effect if one of them has a thermal runaway. Planes obviously have a lot more stringent safety standards compared to consumer vehicles.Basically all of the power systems are ran off the engines and APU anyway at 115v/400hz and rectified to 28v for the DC bus systems.
