For proper driving the auto dulled throttle response, gave slow, slippy changes, laggardly take off - unless you boiled tne torque converter. Big, torquey engined barges could mask the inefficient auto box to degree at the expense of decent fuel consumption. Not proper drivers cars which should be responsive, fast, nimble and efficient - at least to me.In which case, are we not back to my point that someone looking for a "responsive, fast, nimble and efficient" Ferrari and speccing a manual 400i perhaps bought the wrong Ferrari?(Recreation of Ferrari showroom c. 1980)
