The Taycan is a pretty big old thing and despite being superficial sporting, I don't think the basic proposition is all that different, for most consumers, to many high-end EVs, bar the more limited rear seat space.Can't see the 718 EV being a smash hit. But it might do OK on a slow burn given how few options there are for electric sports cars. I'm not against an electric two-seat Porsche. I think the basic idea could deliver a great car. I just don't think the battery tech is good enough yet, and like I said, I'd want it as an additional option, not the only option.Much as I prefer a good ICE solution, we have to be realistic about the fact that burning fuel as a means to get about is on borrowed time, and mostly for good reason, even if that basic argument has been distorted. Obviously the idea that every driving around in 2.5 tonne EVs with 800kg of battery and charging off grids with a large portion of fossil fuels is a bit of a farce. But that's just the current situation. It doesn't mean that EV isn't the best solution long term. It obviously is, provided the battery tech improves. I think there's no question the grid can be supplied cost effectively by renewables given time to migrate the infrastructure. It's only fkwits and Trump fanciers who still doubt that.
