Looks stunning, flat 8 turbo I hear?My guess is they'll rename it 908 or something similar and looks like they're saying it will be a 'range' of cars above 911.Thinking maybe something like this?908 flat8 turbo 650 bhp £350k 908 GTS flat8 turbo 800 bhp £450k 908 Turbo flat8 turbo hybrid 1200 bhp £600k plus maybe some track/lightweight versions GT/RS?
SuperPav said: Looks really great, but I'm conflicted by this a little bit.I love the way it looks, love what it stands for, but feel almost like this is a concept delivered in a state of insecurity and a bleak outlook of the future. It's so retrospective, which is great in the sense of retaining analogue/mechanical connection, "the good old days" etc., but completely lacking in a progressive future vision.Things like the 959, the 918, Mission E and even Mission X all were technological promises of a different future state. Putting aside the fact I'd rather personally have a Mission S rather than an X, the S looks and feels like a concept from 2008, inspired by retro, and bringing Porsche a little bit down into the world of Singer. As I say, I love it as a car, but to me it has an air of lack of confidence which I would expect from a future-facing Porsche Super Sports Series. It’s 100% retrospective, but it’s very well done. The management in VWAG/Porsche don’t let innovation happen, it’s very much frowned upon. There are a few engineers with excellent ideas, but the management is not interested in doing anything different. They were pulled kicking and screaming to copy Hyundai with virtual revs and gearshifts… when they already have patents in the group for much more Porsche relevant solutions… inventions that increase performance and driving feedback, and inject some emotion.

Would be great if it does have a flat 8.Seems the anthesis of the Tesla Roadster. This won't be the quickest, most efficient, seems unlikely it'll fly but it's so much more desirable.

Jeez, TX, I thought you were only a repetitive bore (borderline troll) on the EV threads, but fair play to you, it turns out you'll moan about anything! Just be glad it'll exist rather than being envious that you won't get to play with one. Or shall we just ban the existence of all cars that you can't afford?Anyway, nice piece of design, to my eyes. Also nice to see Porsche doing something new-to-them.

Why so many manufacturers jump the retro bandwagon? It's called sentimental blackmailing. To make consumers swallow easily their devoid of driving character electric cars and their limitations. If they were so generous why no retro before, when there were combustion engines only. The second reason is a lack of inspiration for new appealing designs. Pretty much all was already tried. Some attepted other directions(design languages) but the results are appaling, not to say horrifying. Look at Bmw, they are in nomansland.Edited by alex_2015 on Friday 16th October 09:50Edited by alex_2015 on Friday 1
