Over 3 months into M3 ownership now, and I'm pleased to report that it's been a very happy 3 months with the exception of the fuel bill being more horrendous than expected thanks to a certain President's actions in the Middle East. A few weeks ago it went into Redish Motorsport for new fuel injectors and an NRW Inline Fuel Filter. Not a cheap job, but every time I put my foot down the mental image of an injector sticking open and writing off the engine weighed on my mind, and unless my circumstances dramatically change I plan on owning this car for a long while so it seemed worth the money. After one of the highest altitude bowls of spaghetti bolognese I imagine I'll ever eat, we pressed on to Munich. Me and my best mate were splitting the driving, but even so this day did feel pretty long.We had a quick petrol stop at the Austrian border to fill up, grab some water and swap drivers, but other than that we pressed on I'd underestimated how much of the journey was essentially backroads or Alpine passes, other than a 10km stretch in Austria we didn't hit any dual carriageway until we were about 50km from Munich. 30km of that was derestricted autobahn so flew by pretty quickly however...After navigating central Munich and getting flummoxed by some roadworks we finally made it to our hotel where the M3 was tucked up in the underground car park opposite a lovely, and seemingly well used Mercedes 500E, and met another mate who had flown out to join us for the 2nd half of the trip. Then it was an obligatory trip to the Hofbrauhaus for a stein of Munich's finest.The next day was a much needed day off of driving to give ourselves (and the car) a rest, although it wasn't an entirely car free day with a trip to BMW Welt. We're all children of the 00s so seeing the hero car from 2004's Need for Speed: Most Wanted was a bit of a highlight. Thinking about it that game can probably hold some blame for my near-lifelong BMW obsession. From there it was then off to the Nurburgring- via some decent stretches of mainly de-restricted autobahn. Tyre pressures and condition were of course thoroughly set and checked that morning, which was a good job as I got the speedo to 165mph indicated (my mate's phone reckons that equated to a true 157mph)- not bad considering we were 3-up and the boot was rammed full of luggage (inc. a 200pc Halfords advanced toolkit I'd packed as a precaution). Really impressed by how stable it felt at speed too, and way less wind noise creeping through the window seals than my old 125i had on a similar autobahn run.We stopped off at the Technik Museum
