That reminds me of when we had the 640d with Ivory leather interior and cream carpets and cream floor mats with 2 kids as well. I was close to a nervous breakdown trying to keep the carpets clean over the winter for example! Never again! My Volvo is

I thought it was wonderful at first...You're in the car, it's cold and wet and the car is steaming up, you want to turn on driver and passenger heated seats, the heated front and rear screens, increase the fan speed and direct it to the windscreen, turn on the a/c, and turn down the radio so you can concentrate a bit more - you're doing 70mph on the motorway. In your old car you can do this all quickly and instinctively by touch without taking your eyes off the wheel, but you're now stabbing frantically at tiny icons on a screen whilst shouting 'hey google...' whilst it's replying that it 'cant do that right now', or 'doesn't understand that command', or 'seems to be offline right now'.Or maybe it's just me being a grumpy old man.... You're absolutely right. I have an iX3 NK and although it does have a smattering of physical buttons within fingertip reach on the centre console, fan speed and blower output (screen, centre, floor) are not. This is effing ridiculous. Vent direction is on the screen as well and although once set you rarely touch it again, it's still a ball ache (and dangerous) to get right if you're desperate for some air to the face action whilst on the move. Of course, this should be done while stationary but who's got the time to do that? More puzzlingly, in these times of saving every gram of weight and every dollar of production cost, what the hell is going on in the heads of established car manufacturers that makes them want to pointlessly add the weight and complexity of vent direction circuitry and actuators? Absolutely crackers.

Hard to believe now, but they had a reputation for safety as the pioneered things like seatbelts and crumple zones while keeping things very ergonomic, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road ahead.Edited by ducnick on Wednesday 19th August 09:37
We have had 3 XC90s (big family) and were considering an EX equivalent, but opted for a PHEV. Having driven to Galicia this turned out to be the right choice as, unlike France, charging stations are few and far between. However the electric range is pathetic and never gets anywhere near the claimed 42 miles. Not a car I would recommend given the entirely unreasonable claims of MPG.

(I have a 911 turbo S, it has all the huff and puff to keep EV's firmly in the rear view mirror..)At least if you wear crocks in public, they allow your soul to slowly flow out of the holes, EV's take it away from you when you make some form of argument about any benefits or reason for owning one....Rant over, ready
