rickygolf83 said: Nice work again. Yours looks the same as mine inside at the moment..... seats out and carpet folder towards the front i'll buy your home made press for the repair panel lol same repair needed on mine Making the panel is the easy part, welding it in was less so, mainly because I had to cut so much out it made it awkward to get in with the torch.Hopefully you won't need to cut as much out as I did.

A couple of weeks ago during some crappy weather, I realised I had a leak in the boot. I traced it to the belt-line trim on the rear hatch. The plastic clips that hold it on have a small rubber gasket underneath them which must have perished in the 20+ years since they were first fitted,I ordered some clear silicon sealant and waited for it to turn up. I then complained to Amazon that they had sent me 'Black' instead of 'Clear' and waited for the correct sealant to turn up.When it finally did, I soon discovered that there is no way to remove the clips without destroying them, so, onto ebay and new clips ordered, and more waiting.New clips turn up and with a break in the weather, I managed to replace all the clips with the new ones and some added sealant for good measure. Two days of rain later and the boot is dry - Yay! Fast forward a week or so to the torrential rain on Saturday, and I discovered my boot leak isn't fixed, and what's more, isn't even a boot leak. It is no longer leaking from the belt-line however, and the water is ending up in some strange places.Having checked all the usual suspects and come up with no solid evidence, I noticed that the headlining was starting to sag, whereas previously it has been ok. So I removed it and discovered the culprit - the aerial base.Luckily, I had a DAB+ antenna sat on the shelf in the garage that I bought for the Twintop, but never got round to fitting, so after wrapping the wires in loom tape, it was employed by the Mini.I ran the aerial loom along the main loom to the fuse box, then up and over the glovebox to the rear of the stereo, it's damn near a perfect fit with no excess needing to be hidden away.but, there is a problem - The standard aerial sits pretty much vertical, the new one rakes back and is fouled by the hatch spoiler when opened.A nice little stubby antenna sorts the clearance issue, no idea how it'll affect reception though. Finally got round to drilling out the snapped exhaust bracket studs. I had to

I've filed it firmly under 'jobs never to attempt myself!'Actually wasn't that bad.One of those jobs that took ages because I was trying to do it without taking something else off, i.e. the brake servo.Once I'd decided to remove the servo, it took 20 minutes, whereas I'd spent an hour and 20minutes trying to do it without removing the servo, although admittedly, given the current status of the car, removing the servo was much easier than it would of been had I had to drain the brake fluid and if there had been an engine in the w

It’s amazing what it’ll pull out! Thanks, I'll give it a go. rickygolf83 said: Nice work, i am currently removing the subframe and tank on my R53.... replacing everything front to back, with all the parts sitting waiting to go I'm doing the same, although I'm buying the parts as I go along, which may delay things a bit.rickygolf83 said: Did you watch Hyphens R53 resto on youtube by chance? It has been a relatively quiet 2 months on the car and bike front but there are some updates!RX7She came out of storage and basically took a trip straight to the bodyshop to get the spoiler quoted for as this had to get done. No longer could I deal with peeling paint! Then off for an MOT, which she obviously passed with flying colours.A week or so went by and I whipped the spoiler off the old girl ready for drop off.Gosh, that is alot of gunk on the lid!All the bits disassembled and on the floor. Unfortunately one bolt snapped off, so that had to get drilled out.Just a little example of some o
