I am absolutely serious. There is a direct correlation between the UK's use of coal (and latterly oil) and the increase in our national prosperity and population wellbeing. Same as with China more recently. And there is a direct correlation between our attempts to phase out coal/oil in favour of renewables and the utterly dire performance we have seen of the UK and European economies since we star

If we go too far down the intermittent and unreliable green energy route we saddle ourselves with an overly expensive, costly and complex grid system (making the UK uncompetitive), still require a natural gas backup, and become subject to the whims of the Chinese who supply most of our solar panels and control the majority of the rare earth metals needed for the transition. The only real solution if we want reliable energy independence is a massive increase in Nuclear power. Or coal, it is estimated that the UK still has 400+ years of reserves that could be put to use. What s intermittent and unreliable about green energy? As said by Donkey Apple, I don t give a flying fudge about the green aspect, but I do like the fact that The Sun rises every day and creates a shedload of power for me. I m not relying on a ship that moan or may not get here that s loaded up with some liquid gold. Equally, the spread of green energy means in the months where there isn t as much sunshine, then the wind steps in, as does hydropower. Alongside this there are batteries to store any excess created for the very rare times where the sun doesn t shine, wind doesn t blow and the tides stop. It s almost like there are multiple solutions that all compliment each otherYou only have to look at the UK energy dashboard to see that here in the UK, wind, solar and renewables are massively intermittent (the fluctuations are huge) and our battery backup here in the UK is as good as non-existent. This means that we have to overbuild wind/solar capacity to compensate (massively expensive), we need to have a gas fired backup on standby to step in when needed (massively expensive), we need to rely on interconnectors from other European countries at times of peak demand (massively expensive), and we need to establish and maintain a hugely more comple

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
