Obviously people don't pay list for any mainstream car, but EVs do seem to have more unrealistic list prices than most. Taking our MG4 for example; it's a cheap Chinese family car, which presumably should be amongst the worst in terms of depreciation. I think new list was £32k which makes its current ~£15k value at three years old look pretty bad (53% of its value lost); but when it was new people were actually paying more like £27k for them which makes the depreciation more like 45% over three years, which feels about par for the course for a mainstream car really. If you look at the discount

If you look at the discounts available on a new midrange Ford Focus at the time, I doubt the depreciation per month would look very different. Obviously, any new mainstream car loses a huge amount in depreciation and I think EVs are slightly worse than ICE equivalents, but the difference isn't night-and-day. Edited by kambites on Friday 11th September 18:19 You need to compare the funding What was the funding rate offered by MG on your car when new and what kind of funding rate can a typical buyer of a three year old MG4 finance the purchase at. The somewhat enormous funding differential is what you are seeing when you look at the two 'prices' you're not seeing a traditional value. Sticker prices just aren't remotely relevant now for their historic purpose of telling someone the price of an object, their purpose is as a key variable in the funding formula. Anyway, I'm not convinced there is any sound market For Porsche's budget/entry sports car as an EV. I think Porsche used EV's excessively for brand marketing pre 2022 and published an awful lot of complete bullst which they subsequently didn't have the balls to row back on. Same with their eFuels bullst. I'm just not sure why, when they're a hugely successful SUV business which is easy to slowly electrify, they have got themselves so trapped by their own historic marketing bks when it comes to their less important, lower volume, le

My knees were always touching the steering wheel and the wheel always felt too low down. The seating position is easily sorted 997 (or 987 boxster) seats are a straight swap, they sit you lower ( give better support) and puts the steering wheel in a much better position.

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
