자동차 배터리는 스타터 모터의 순간적인 고전류 방전을 위해 설계되었으며, 지속적인 전력 공급용으로는 적합하지 않습니다. 일반 전력 공급용으로 배터리를 사용하려면 캐러밴이나 해양용으로 설계된 '딥사이클 배터리'를 구입해야 합니다. 일반 자동차 배터리를 지속적으로 방전/충전하면 배터리 수명이 크게 단축되므로 가능한 한 피하는 것이 좋습니다. 배터리 충전 시간은 배터리 용량과 발전기 크기에 따라 달라지지만, 공회전 상태에서는 정상 주행 시보다 훨씬 오래 걸립니다. 자동차 발전기는 일반적으로 3,000rpm의 정상 순항 속도에서 최대 출력을 내도록 설계되어 있습니다. 반면 전용 발전기는 특정 속도에서 운전하도록 설계된 엔진과 그 속도에 맞춘 발전기를 갖추고 있어 항상 최고 효율로 운전됩니다.
