That the words "5000bhp" and "not enough" are in the same sentence has restored my faith in humanity.I won't be content till I have a rocket propelled car.Not sure of the horsepower (or rather thrust) I require but if it isn't breaking my ribs on an off the line launch it isn't enough.

Not sure where these people drive but I have speed limits, traffic and all that to contend with. I dont feel I can drive either of my two to their full potential on the road, the 70 bhp old Triumph Spitfire, maybe. It is amusing to read some of the posts on this thread. I do wonder how many of them actually believe what they are typing.Agreed, we must be living in an alternative reality owning and enjoying modern cars with peak performance and not flying off the road in a ball of flame..The op clearly says: RDMcG said: Ignore cost, what the neighbours think ,financial limits and sped limits. You are have a house in Germany convenient to uncrowded autobahns, easy access to a dozen racetracks. In this scenario you either optimise for lightweight, high bhp/ton (cause you want to have fun on the racetracks) or you optimise for a monster that can go faster than any current roadcar (cause you want to get somewhere very very quickly). There is no roadcar yet that goes too fast for the autobahn. ...i have no experience myself but have read on these very pages that 90mph or so is more the norm for autobahns? This 'no limits/150mph' thing seems to be a romanticised British dream because of what we don't have? I'm sure there ARE people who drive very fast on autobhans but I don't think massive HP and vmax are a prerequisite? No, they're not a prerequisite and 90-100ish is about right but this is about uncrowded autobahns without financial limits. It is obviously a fictional scenario but were there a car that could comfortably and mechanically safely do 350mph I reckon you could also do it safely roadwise. Above 350mph I suspect you would not be able to see something stationary ahead in time and

I've got my Phaeton with the 6HP to do soon, a bit more involved as a job, but it's already had a box and a torque converter in the last 50k, so it hasn't been left forever without maintenance - I've heard the 6HP19s seem to like to give trouble! It's my first torque converter auto (in 70 cars of manuals, and 1 DSG!)If I'd kept my old E320cdi I'd have certainly ended up getting the gearbox serviced. I bought it with 104k on

The Mk3 Astra and Cavalier are so similar (especially at the front) that only a true car nerd would know or care, but the Saab has an Astra rear beam, clear as day. The GTE's beam would fit right on for example, and the way the handbrake cables work are the same. A Cavalier sort of uses a single cable, Astra/ Saab uses one for each wheel. But then Saab added 5mm spacers each side at the rear, to make it the same as a Cavalier....It's very odd.Well I for one have learnt somethin
