Respect? WTF point is ''respect'' supposed to be making? Why not respect those around you who aren't wanting to dither behind you slowing down for no reason, and just get on with the task of driving normally? If the above is what you're going on to justify your nonsense, then ok. My experience in 43 years of driving tells me that I don't slow down " in case the lights change to red ", and amazingly, I'm still here, not caused any accidents with this approach, and still not unnecessarily holding others up. If I'm approaching lights and they start to change I'll stop if it's safe. If I'm close, and it's amber, I'm not standing on the brakes to stop. Either way, I'm not slowing down prematurely to try and second guess them. Because that would be ridiculous.It takes all sorts. Hence the existence of this thread.I think you add stuff like slowing down 'just in case' to the list that includes 'not letting people push in' and 'I'm driving at the speed limit so it's fine to hold someone up' which helps to explain why driving can be such a pain in the backside now. There's no hope for these people.I was thinking the same. My driving instructor told me to approach a green light prepared to have to stop, but not slow down in case it did and I've always remembered that.
