...only joking, of course it was a solidly positive decision! After many years of practical performance - MK5 R32, W204 C63 Saloon, Panamera 4s, W213 E63s, i sold the E63 after 4 amazing years to renovate a property. Lusting after the next 'need to scratch the itch' car, i bought a Mercedes G400d as the G Class was the engineering marvel that i needed to experience. I've had it for two years and alongside another car i use it often and love it - the diesel is the right engine for this application and despite not being a drivers dream, it is a car that will always make you feel special driving i

Been a few weeks since bringing the car home, and although i havent used it an awful lot im still smitten with it. I've actually used it more than i thought i would but that could be the honeymoon phase.Despite so much criticism against the SMG online, i have to say i really like it. I dont use the paddles, i only use the stick to change, and im enjoying 'almost' being part of the drive where im anticipating the perfect change, as my first post above my mindset when i get in this car is treat it like a manual. It does suit the nature of the car. i think im enjoying it more because its the closest thing to a manual that i've owned since a MK5 R32 back in 2012.With regards the fobs not working, i took it to a local BMW specialist who was able to run a test through ISTA and everything tested fine except the Diversity antenna itself.Taking it out (quite the PITA to get to) i was hoping the board would be corroded or have visible signs of damage:But to my surprise it was pretty immaculate. There was no signs anyones ever entered the car here, and it also housed its original 2006 dated part number, so i've put it down to a part that is simply 20 odd years old and gave up the ghost.Matched up part numbers as close as i could to a replacement to try that. Interestingly, this is from an LCI car (the item is dated 2009) which i assumed would need coding, and several other 2006 items on ebay had totally different part numbers - so not to be fooled by year, it was better to track one down with as close as i could between part numbers and disregard the pre lci and lci element. This one looked healthy - of course buying a part thats still 15 odd years old still runs the risk of not working either, but the breaker online assured me it was tested before hand and if not its returnable in any case. I've refitted it but left it tucked up in the headliner for now to ensure it defo works. Not great for large hands but i got it plugged up and... we have working fobs! both fobs now lock an

Toyed with doing this for ages! Hope you like it. Here goes... Before getting to my current cars, I always love the threads where people share their car history, so here's mine! Unfortunately I don't have pictures for all of them so I've pointed out where I've shamelessly borrowed from Google image search. Where possible the images are exactly as my cars were. So, first up...Nissan Micra K10 1.0 | 1985 | 50 BHP | 79 BHP per Ton | 0-60 in 13.6Image from GoogleHanded down from my older sister, this was my first car. Ghastly thing but made a change from all my peers who either drove Mk2 Fiestas o

Fantastic car to aquire. I've always admired these, it's a fantastic design and the interior is just brilliant. I was wondering which car was going to need your soon-to-be-aquired welding skills.

Without really looking for it, I am now the lucky owner of a 166:I wasn't looking for another car. Honest! But this was too good an opportunity to pass up...as it was free. Yes, free - but of course needs a fair amount of work.As you can see from my threads on PH I am fortunate to have a diverse fleet: some in storage, some away for long time work and a lucky rotation at home according to seasons and requirements. Coming up for 10 years ago I started my first thread in Reader's Cars on my 164, saved from the tail end of the scrappage scheme that cut a swathe through neo-classics. It started my
