Unreal I think your observations are not entirely accurate. You do see Pro-EV types arguing the virtues of their cars, but almost unanimously they do so from the perspective of having owned or currently owning an ICE as well. And they do so in response to a deluge of social media wisdom and other sponsored media BS.The number of pro-ICE folk who have used an EV for an extended period/owned them and who argue that EVs are crap is almost zero. I can think of one person who had a Model 3 but it bored him.I am pro-EV. I have had an Elise, various Miatas including a 5.0 V8, Tr8, R5 turbo, 944S2

Hardly any role at all actually.Just look at the major drop in NOx from 2007 to 2017. What caused it? Not EV's for sure. In 2017, France registered less than 1.5% of new vehicles as EV's. As a percentage of total vehicles on the road in France the total entering Paris between 2007 and 2017 would not have even been a rounding error. Banning 20 year old cars from entering Paris did not start until well into 2016 and I don't think they ever added up to many in any event. So what did cause the reduction? Well it was petrol and diesel vehicles obviously and the same thing happened in the UK.In 1990, there were just over 20 million cars on the UK's roads, 4% of them diesel, about 800k.NOx emissions from vehicles in 1990 was 1.2 million tonnes. In 2014, there were over 30 million cars on the road and 50% of them were diesels, over 15 million of them.Bad news for NOx emissions then? ........................... What do you think? NOx emissions from vehicles in 2014 fell to about 0.3 million tonnes. They fell further to about 0.2 million tonnes in 2022.The UK's total NOx emissions have dropped from 3.2 million in 1990 to 0.6 million tons in 2022.You might say that this is a huge success and those diesels have been emitting less CO2 than petrol all along as a bonus.Of course there always has to be a moral panic with something or other, it allows the Government and LA's like London, to legislate and extract money from citizens. I can't remember people dying off in droves from NOx in 1990. Perhaps they were and the Government and the media were keeping it secret. I don't know. I do know that the average person will be breathing in more NOx just from being in th

To be fair, if more detractors actually test drove stuff properly, there'd be less detractors. But that doesn't generate clicks. PistonTim said: ...
