It’s so hard to predict what may / may not be successful because, even on a forum of car enthusiasts, our views on presenters are so different! There’s a few comments on here saying they preferred 5th gear or ‘old’ TG because it was consumer focused, but of course the viewing figures didn’t reflect that. I thought the Chris Evans TG was awkward, although I did like MLB’s genuine petrolhead enthusiasm alongside an unusual level of self deprecation for an American!Then, I really enjoyed the Harris, Flintoff, McGuinness show and I definitely prefer Harris to Rory. Rory seems like a nice guy but a bit like an enthusiastic puppy. Plus it’s not about who you’d have a pint with, but who you want to watch on TV, so I enjoyed Harris’ grumpy persona. However, there’ll be people on this thread who like cars, who are therefore part of TG’s target audience, but disagree with everything I’ve said. Good luck BBC.
