엔진 밸런스에 대해 혼란스러움. 1차 밸런스(피스톤의 앞뒤 회전)는 어느 정도 이해하지만, 2차 엔진 밸런스는 전혀 이해가 안 감.
가장 간단한 설명: 1차(1차 순서) 밸런스는 엔진 속도와 같은 진동 주파수와 관련됨(예: 1000RPM에서 1000Hz). 2차(2차 순서) 밸런스는 엔진 속도의 2배 진동 주파수와 관련됨. 일반적으로 1차는 정현파 진동, 2차는 비정현파 진동을 의미함. 원인을 이해하려면: 일반적인 엔진에서 피스톤은 커넥팅로드로 크랭크축에 연결됨. 크랭크축 회전을 기준으로 생각하면, 상사점(TDC) 후 90도에서 하사점(BDC) 전 90도까지 180도 이동할 때의 피스톤 수직 움직임이, 하사점 전 90도에서 상사점 후 90도까지 180도 이동할 때와 다름. 이러한 불균등한 움직임 차이가 진동을 발생시킴.
