I had one of these but in Estoril blue. I added a strut brace and an Eisenmann exhaust to make it sing! Photo is of us having some fun in the Dolomites along with about 10 other Zeds. Well, I enjoyed it but not so sure my missus did... Pretty basic by todays standards but nice car and even better, I sold it for more than I paid!

The later S54 cars are rare and don t come up for sale very often, both as Roadster or Coupe. As GTRene says, values will continue to climb due to their rarity. I bought a M Roadster new in 1998, obviously an S50 version, which had the same engine as the car I had before it, a E36 M3 Evo. As others have mentioned in this thread, I always found the seating position to be too high, and quite frankly I felt a bit awkward driving around with the hood down. It was a much better car with the hard top in place, and with hindsight I should have waited another year or so a bought an M Coupe instead. Mine was Estoril Blue which I think was the original launch colour. Wasn t a bad car per se, but I only kept it for one year and I ve not had another convertible since. BRM. There is an s54 with 54k miles on autotrader for 35k which seems to be a very nice example.I m not criticising the car but the only way these will be advertised as north of 100k is with general inflation and when 35k ish is worth 100 ish.Fair enough, but the S54 versions are always going to command relatively strong money and imho that will continue due to their rarity. M Coupes always seem to trade at a significant premium to the M Roadster too. If you can find a good clean fairly original example of either then I think it should be a safe place to stick your money right now. I still have a hankering for a M Coupe after missing out buying one all those years ago but it would have to be a S54 as the earlier cars are now non ULEZ compliant. And as I said previously they rarely come up for sale nowadays. BRM.

Possibly a strange topic for some, but I’ve always had a fascination with headlamp washers, and in particular systems that involve wipers. I’ve had a couple, namely a Saab 900 and an E30 BMW. Some other manufacturers like Volvo and Mercedes were well known for them tooHowever, this evening I randomly found the following image of a Talbot Solaro, and it got me thinking about what other cars are there where headlight wipers were availableA few others that spring to mind:Any other obscure ones?
