I think it's still difficult to know how the electric "fun" car thing is going to pan out, so I think a lot of car manufacturers are a bit nervous about it all really. See Porsche with the electric Cayman and Boxster for example. The MG Cyberster has hardly done much either sales wise, so it's understandable that the car manufacturers are taking it steady really I reckon. I've got an ICE Caterham for example, so I'd also like to

See Porsche with the electric Cayman and Boxster for example. The MG Cyberster has hardly done much either sales wise, so it's understandable that the car manufacturers are taking it steady really I reckon. I've got an ICE Caterham for example, so I'd also like to see if it's worth Caterham dipping their toe into electric as well in fairness as you say. Yesterday, Mazda apparently confirmed that the new MX5 is being developed on a dual ICE/EV platform. Before that, it was going to be a hybrid. There will also be a halo model above it. Reveal due in 2028. We'll also have to see how that pans out. The current MX5, despite being a really good car (particularly the current ND3 version, with its revised steering), just isn't selling in anywhere near the numbers it used to. The weekend "fun car" thing definitely seems to be dying off as you say, and it fascinates me as to why? I guess the move to quieter modern engines, and the push for electric hasn't helped either in many ways though, and folk just seem less and less interested in "fun" and "noise" nowadays I think.

A neighbour had one of these and I used to love hearing him start it up in the morning (he also had a V Twin Buell which was even noisier). Top bloke.
