Your car looks superb in those photos by the sea!

So, after a very relaxing 1 hour of sleep, we arrived in Calais and started heading for Belgium and Germany. The plan was always to hit the Ring for lunch, so despite all the extra driving that was still on target. A quick coffee and pastry near Dunkirk and we were all setAt this point I should mention that Iโ€™d been stopping quite frequently for fuel, as I made an assumption that was quite wide of the mark. Not sure why, but Iโ€™d presumed the 968 had a 60L fuel tank, so when I was at half-way on the gauge and filled up with 35-40 litres of petrol it meant the gauge wasnโ€™t accurate and made me a little nervous. Not sure why it took me so long to do, but when I then checked online it seems the car actually has a 74L tank, and so the gauge was pretty accurate after all. Years of BMWs with tiny tanks had not prepared me well for Porsche ownership! . It meant I could be a little more relaxed with filling up, especially as European services are seriously expensive for V-PowerFinally we hit the German border, and saw that magic sign which allows a bit more haste! The weather was perfect and the Autobahn heading for Trier not too busy, so was time to see what the 968 could do. This actually turned out to be the best run of the whole trip, as the tarmac was very smooth and the car seemed to effortlessly hit 155 on the speedo before I had to slow for traffic. Unfortunately I didnโ€™t get a picture or check what the GPS maps were showing as the true speed, but given there was still a bit to go on the rev counter I think the 968 mightnโ€™t be far off doing a true 160 some dayThe other thing I really noticed when making progress on the German roads was the noticeable step at 4k rpm from the VarioCam. Thereโ€™s enough torque in 6th gear for it to pull well at 3k RPM, but drop it down to 4th gear and it really does move wellAnyway, after about 5 hours of driving we reached the Ring. We had no plans other than to see what was happening there, but that turned out not to be very m

Toyed with doing this for ages! Hope you like it. Here goes... Before getting to my current cars, I always love the threads where people share their car history, so here's mine! Unfortunately I don't have pictures for all of them so I've pointed out where I've shamelessly borrowed from Google image search. Where possible the images are exactly as my cars were. So, first up...Nissan Micra K10 1.0 | 1985 | 50 BHP | 79 BHP per Ton | 0-60 in 13.6Image from GoogleHanded down from my older sister, this was my first car. Ghastly thing but made a change from all my peers who either drove Mk2 Fiestas o

Fantastic car to aquire. I've always admired these, it's a fantastic design and the interior is just brilliant. I was wondering which car was going to need your soon-to-be-aquired welding skills.

Without really looking for it, I am now the lucky owner of a 166:I wasn't looking for another car. Honest! But this was too good an opportunity to pass up...as it was free. Yes, free - but of course needs a fair amount of work.As you can see from my threads on PH I am fortunate to have a diverse fleet: some in storage, some away for long time work and a lucky rotation at home according to seasons and requirements. Coming up for 10 years ago I started my first thread in Reader's Cars on my 164, saved from the tail end of the scrappage scheme that cut a swathe through neo-classics. It started my
