증상

SUV의 공장 정품 16인치 스틸 휠에 P235/70R16 타이어 장착. 약 30,000마일의 부드러운 주행 후 두 개 타이어에서 주당 약 10psi 정도의 상당한 공기 누수 발생. 평판 있는 독립 정비소 2곳에서 타이어를 분리하여 검사했으나 누수 지점을 찾지 못함. 비드 실란트 적용 및 밸브 스템 교체 시도했으나 문제 지속. 비누수를 이용한 개인 검사에서도 타이어 누수 발견 불가.

처리 내용

휠 자체의 문제일 가능성 확인 필요. 겨울 도로의 모래와 염분으로 인해 휠의 타이어 비드 시트 부분에 부식 또는 이물질이 축적될 수 있음. 타이어 숍에서 타이어를 분리한 후 휠의 비드 시트 영역을 철저히 청소하고 타이어를 다시 조립하면 문제가 해결될 수 있음.
