1998년식 I6 4.0L 엔진, ~175,300마일 주행거리. 냉시동 후 몇 초 뒤부터 디젤 엔진 같은 소음 발생. 따뜻해지거나 주행/회전수 올리면 완전히 사라짐. 주로 단거리 주행(약 9마일, 시골길과 고속도로 번갈아). 블록 하단에서 가장 큼. 청진기로도 명확한 음원 파악 안됨. 시동 후부터 워밍업까지 발생. 망치로 단단한 금속을 때리는 것 같은 노킹음.
노킹음은 마모된 부품으로 인해 공차가 커져서 오일로 채워지지 않는 경우에서 발생합니다. 오일 점도가 너무 낮거나 오래되어 얇아진 경우일 수도 있습니다. 소음이 블록 하단에서만 들린다면 크랭크축 베어링이나 크랭크축 끝의 스러스트 부시일 가능성이 있습니다. 그러나 "디젤 엔진" 같은 리듬감 있는 연속적인 태핑음은 밸브나 캠축이 마모되었거나 밸브 클리어런스가 과도할 때 전형적입니다. 엔진에 유압식 밸브 액추에이터(hydraulic valve adjuster)가 있다면 그 중 하나가 "반응이 둔" 상태일 수 있습니다.

큼직한 범퍼에 작은 범퍼 아치를 장착했을 때 약간 나아진 외형. 프론트 아치의 앞 부분과 프론트 범퍼의 뒷 부분을 보면 맞지 않는 부분을 볼 수 있음. 하지만 여전히 괜찮아 보임.
